Giant Woman Sculpture

Abstract giant sculpture of a sleeping woman

This outstanding abstract sculpture of a reclining woman resides at the entryway of a shopping mall in Greenbrae, CA, of all places. The statue is known as Tamalpais Maiden, named after the highest peak in the area, Mount Tamalpais. It was created by sculptor Dennis Patton in 1988, out of Cor-Ten steel, and is 17 feet long. I captured this reverse angle on film back in 1993, but the iconic giant is still there to this day! A front view can be seen in my Roadside Oddities gallery.

Miramar Trees

Exotic trees and flowers

Back in 2005, I was living in Miramar, New Zealand, a suburb of the capitol city Wellington. While out for a walk, I happened upon this sight, right out of a fairy tale. Fortunately I had a camera with me to capture the moment. The camera was nothing fancy, just a point-and-shoot Olympus Stylus, using Kodak Gold film.

Ann with Vintage Auto

A beautiful woman in white dress with vintage automobile

During the early 1990s I was shooting a lot of glamour pictures, building a portfolio for a potential career in that field. I never fully pursued that idea, due to my animation profession, but really enjoyed the process of photographing beautiful women. Here is one example, featuring the exquisite Ann, who was a superb model. Photographed in 1992 on Fuji Provia film with Nikon gear.

1936 Bentley Roadster

Crowds surround a vintage Bentley automobile

Each year on Father's Day, the city of Beverly Hills hosts a high-end automotive show known as Concours d' Elegance. Spectators come from far and wide to see the amazing selection of exotic cars, held on the legendary Rodeo Drive, the playground of the rich and famous. This Bentley Roadster garnered a lot of attention at the 2015 show.

Vibrant Bougainvillea

Unique kaleidoscopic bougainvillea flowers

Beautiful Bougainvillea vines grow prolifically in Southern California, typically with solid colors of red or violet. This particular plant caught my attention due to it's unusual multicolored bracts, which are actually specialized leaves that surround the tiny yellow flowers. These plants are gorgeous, but need to be handled with care, as they have wicked thorns!

An Eyeful of London

Aerial view of London, England

A popular activity in London is to hop aboard the London Eye - a gigantic, very slow spinning Ferris Wheel with enclosed observation pods. The ride provides impressive aerial views of the city, such as this shot overlooking the banks of the Thames River. Photographed in 2015.
